Wan Tan Mee at Chee Meng Cafe

Image
The outside view of the cafe Chee Meng Cafe is located at Argyll Road and they only serve 1 stall Wan Tan Mee. According to the owner, the noodles are handmade fresh each day and they are usually sold out by noon. The cafe is located right opposite a Caltex petrol station so it's not that hard to spot it. As a side note,Wan Tan means dumplings and Mee means noodles, so Wan Tan Mee literally means dumpling noodles, Wan Tan Mee The Wan Tan served by the stall tasted ok but it lacked a wow factor, but the noodles on the other hand were really springy and the texture was really nice to chew on. Furthermore, the sauce that came with the noodles had a certain lard aroma that was really fragrant but at the same time not being too overpowering. The stall also sells baby Bak Choy as a side dish, I'm not really a fan of Bak Choy, but the vegetables were cooked just right and they had a crispy sort of crunch to it making every bite feel satisfying with each munch. Wan Tan ...

Ah Wang Cafe (Toast Bread and Eggs)

Image
Ah Wang Cafe The Entrance I recently discovered this new coffee shop stall in the Tanjung Bungah area, and it was pretty hard to find as it was quite hidden within the flats surrounding it. The coffee shop is called Ah Wang Cafe and is a small Hainanese owned stall that only serves Eggs and Toast and drinks, but don't let it's small exterior put you off your appetite, this stall serves some of the best eggs and toast on the island. The 3 main types of bread that are sold - Roti Kaya, Roti Butter, and lastly Roti Kahwin. Roti Kaya means bread spread with kaya (coconut jam), Roti Butter is bread spread with butter while Roti Kahwin means bread spread with both butter and kaya. Fun fact, Kahwin means marriage in Bahasa Melayu, therefore Roti Kahwin is referring to the marriage between butter and kaya. Roti Butter with half boiled Egg Roti Butter up close I ordered all 3 dishes with a side of half boiled eggs, so that i could sample each one of them. I...

Gemas Road Roti Canai

Image
Before we start, there are a few Malaysian terms i must explain, lest some non-Malaysian readers get confused. Roti Canai - Indian- influenced flatbread dish Kuah - The gravy that you eat with your food, usually curry or dal Banjir - It means flood in english, but in this case it's referring to drenching your meal with gravy Telur Mata - Egg fried sunny side up The Roti Canai Stall Roti Canai, the most basic of all Malaysian food, you can tell whether a shop is good just by trying out their Roti Canai. When I eat Roti Canai, there are 2 factors that I usually take into account that contribute to their overall tastiness, the first thing is the Roti Canai itself and the second is the "kuah" or curry that comes with it. There are dozens of types of Roti Canai - Roti Telur, Roti Tampal, Roti Tisu, Roti Beckham, but to keep things simple the most basic kind of Roti is just Roti Kosong whcih means just plain old Roti with no extras. The Menu As you can...

Johor Food

Image
Johor? Why Johor? Well, as many of you may not know , I spent 3 years in Johor so I just thought I might share some of the tasty stuff that I have tried in Johor. Yeah I know what they say about Johor food - overpriced and disgusting, well as a person who has stayed in Johor for 3 years I must say that this fact isn't entirely true as there are truly some nice places in Johor that would give Penang food a run for their money.  For the most part of my stay in Johor i stayed in the EDUCITY area (for those of you who do not know where it is, it's just right next to Legoland), as advertised this Johor food review is mostly catered to people living in the EDUCITY area which is mostly comprised of students. The area is quite some distance away from the city where all the fun is, but fear not as an adventurous man I have made int my mission to try as much stuff in the EDUCITY area as possible.  So expect some food reviews from Johot to come soon!

Best Jawa Mee in Penang!

Image
Hi guys, I know it's been like over a month or so since i last wrote my first post and as you all probably would have guessed, I've been putting it off cause I've been procrastinating like hell. Since I'm now actually motivated to write something, let's cut the crap and start with my first food review in Penang. :) So first of all this review is gonna be about Jawa Mee. In case you all don't know what Jawa Mee is, it's basically alkaline noodles stir-fried with eggs ,tofu, potatoes with a garnish of a prawn fritter of some kind OR   the wet version which comes with the same ingredients but served in a thick tomato broth and minus the stir-fry. Personally i prefer the dry-version cause it tastes kinda like Mee Goreng which i love(The wet-version is also nice!) OK. so now with the intro done , let's get this review started!

Sup Peeps

So yeah hi everyone, I just created this blog because my friend told me that I could make some good money just by posting a bunch of random pics and posts about anything mildly interesting. Well I didn't really know what to post so i just thought I might as well post reviews about what I eat. Basically it's just me at the moment, but if this blog is successful, i think i might  force  recruit some of my friends to help me out with this website. To make this blog more unique, cool, hipster(take your pick), I'm gonna try to post food that aren't too mainstream or too much of a tourist trap. (As a Penangite, I usually try to avoid places that are swarming with people cz I hate waiting in line for hours just for something that takes only like a few minutes to make). I also swear to make my food reviews as honest as possible, unless you try to bribe with an insane amount of money which I will definitely comply with. P.s. It's my first time writing a blog so go easy on ...
